The Countdown Is ON....

Now that we have accomplished our goal of living on the Lass for over one year, we have moved off the boat, and it is now time to install the upgrades we will need to circumnaviagate. Most of these upgrades revolve around safety, communications and comfort.

In the categories of both safety and comfort, our first upgrade is a Catalina 300 MK II Watermaker. Now we can be anywhere in the world and enjoy pure, clean water for cooking, showers, laundry (yes, it's true...we have a washer and dryer aboard) and ice. This had not been a problem in the past because while in Mexico, although knowing it was a temporary solution, I had a "water fixer" installed. Then, the water coming from the source (usually the dock) was channeled through a small device containing two filters and a UV light. This solution was fine when using a land based hose as the source. The new Watermaker takes this one step further, bringing in sea water and turning it into pure joy. Ahhhh...it's the simple things...
