Don't Try This At Home...

After nearly a week of waiting, first at the Morro Bay Yacht Club, and then on a mooring ball (to make way for an incoming ocean race group), the only boat lift in town finally became available.  Only one problem...there was no mechanic immediately available to install the newly repaired MaxProp.

No matter!  Our sailors downloaded the installation manual from the MaxProp website and (twice) watched each of the 9 installation videos available on the web, then decided to do the installation themselves.

Here are a few photos that show the 18 ton haul out crane, the Bonnie Lass being lifted out of the water (I was amazed to see how small the lift operator looks in the background), the array of parts from Bill's tool kit, Bill fitting the prop hub on the propeller shaft and then, voila(!)...installed!

I am also adding a few shots, including one of Eric up the mast in the boson's chair installing a mast head camera (a project that was begun before leaving SF and completed in Morro Bay), one panoramic shot that Eric "stitched" together with some incredible photographic technology, and Morro Bay at Sunset.
