"Hey Sailor!" (a.k.a. the 2010 Baja HaHa Crew Party)

Last night was the first of what promises to be a boatload of fun events leading up to and including the actual 2010 Baja HaHa Rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, beginnning October 25th.

So...
Early on we had identified three great crew members to sail with us for the adventure. As of his writing, Chris remains, however, Eric (our friend and former crew on our 2008 sail to Ensenada) has accepted a new, top job with Microsoft in Seattle, and will be relocating for a start date of...take a guess?...October 25th. Our friend Brian, who we met at our Tiburon Yacht Club, and who sailed alongside us up a few rivers to the Calfornia Delta last year, has re-proposed to Lisa (long story...theirs...not mine) and they will be getting married a mere few weeks before the Rally's start. We say congrats to them all and congrats to us for stepping out of the "friend zone" for the adventure of finding new crew.

And now the hunt is on!
Bill will be looking for two crew to sail from San Francisco to San Diego, sometime around October 11th. These two may or may not be the same folks that will sail with us to Cabo. I will fly to meet their arrival and then stay on the boat to prepare and provision for the Rally. Once in San Diego, Chris will come aboard and Bill will have decided on the two additional crew. There appears to be a lot of flexblity here, with a highly qualified and fun group of potential crew, and we are looking forward to working out the logistics.

Last night was the matchmaking party for "Crew-Looking-For-Boat" and "Captains-Looking-For-Crew". My best guess is that there were 300 people on the hunt. There were 160 boats signed up last time I looked, and I imagine this will be quite the sailing event when we finally get going! Here is the link to website (registered boat page), however, if you are interested, you can click around to see more of the Rally's venues and plans;
