California Dreamin’
Finally!
After three months of agonizing cold, wet and incredibly windy weather, the skies have cleared and Spring appears to have sprung. January, February and most of March challenged our newbie liveaboard status with weeping condensation from the interior hull walls (solved with an industrial size dehumidifier, along with a moratorium on boiling pasta), no garage to step into our dry cars when raining cats and dogs (boots and an umbrella seems to have easily solved that one…duh!), and adjusting to both Bill and I living together again, this time “under one deck” (we are still working on this one…), we are now being rewarded with LIFE that resembles a VACATION! We live in a brand new basin at Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito. From our deck salon we can see Fish restaurant, West Marine (this one may prove to be too close for the comfort of our wallets), art galleries and Mollie Stone’s grocery. I bought a bike and will soon join the legions of cyclists to explore the city, the wetlands and Mt. Tamalpais (although I cannot seem to bring myself to buy a helmet…being the rebel that I am…).
Bill was able to steal two quick sails during (what he termed) “breaks in the weather” in February. I opted out and went to the movies instead. Then finally, on March 20th, the weather REALLY broke, and we invited our friends Eric, Sheila, Lin and Terry for a Friday early evening sail where waaay too much fun was had by all! Lin and I were celebrating birthdays, and Sheila made sure the champagne flowed! I am hoping to add some photos that Sheila took, but for now here are a few shots for good measure. We docked at our Tiburon Yacht Club and stayed the weekend to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day.
