My Work Here Is Done.

Blogdate: Friday, December 5, 2008

On Wednesday, December 4th I moved my new home from the cozy and quiet marina at the Coral, to the busy and bustling shipyard of Baja Naval. My objective was to complete four intended projects; bilge boards to create a single surface bilge floor, aft side rails to replace lifelines (for improved mobility and safety aboard), dodger hand rails and a mast rail.

The photos here show some of the work in progress, along with some results. Still awaiting completion is the mast rail. I am holding the first attempt (an unpolished work-in-progress). The photo above it is the intended result and while we are stateside for the holidays the rail will be completed. We will have the it mounted when we return after Christmas.

The adventure in Baja Naval brought me to within 100 yards of the Ensenada Fish Market. The best feature of this location is proximity to the most divine fish tacos in the universe! There are more than a dozen open air restaurants featuring every type of fresh fish imaginable, yet the tacos remain a favorite. Deborah, Rick, Alice and I enjoyed one very memorable "tasting test". Intending to try and compare every single taco stop, we ended up staying on the first bench. The tacos were too tasty to leave and cost $1.50 for three. Hard to beat! :)
